About St John's, Grand Falls - Windsor, Gander, Happy Valley - Goose Bay, Mt. Pearl, Corner Brook, Labrador City Newfoundland-Labrador NL Canada
Newfoundland-Labrador Newfoundland and Labrador, on Canada's Atlantic coast, is a combination of Newfoundland island and the mainland of Labrador. The last of Canada's provinces to come into confederation, it was long known as Newfoundland only and to some extent continues to be so even though in 2001, by constitutional amendment it officially became "Newfoundland-Labrador. Founded by Leif Erickson the Viking and then subsequently by John Cabot, the European, it later became England's first overseas colony in the "New Found Land". As with most provinces, its population of over 500,000 is concentrated in its capital, and largest city, of St John's with much of the balance in Grand Falls - Windsor, Gander, Happy Valley - Goose Bay, Mt. Pearl, Corner Brook and Labrador City.
